People on the Move

Medalist Capital is excited to announce one transitioning role and three new hires. Please join us in congratulating Todd Lankford, Charles Kleve, Bill Mitchell, and Marty Alston.

Over the past eight years as our COO, Todd has represented the company extremely well and enabled us to be significantly more productive under his leadership. As a final chapter in his career, Todd has expressed an interest in being more externally focused and having more flexibility to leverage his high-level contacts within commercial real estate companies and other referral sources. He knows our business well and knows most of our lenders so should be a relatively smooth transition. Todd will now be charged with the pursuit of those accounts more aggressively and to also provide business development efforts for his prospecting as well as to team up with others as it makes sense. His time will be devoted to production and revenue generation with those large prospects and other prospects and in strategic areas as they are identified. We are excited that Todd will continue to be a great resource for Medalist Capital.

Chuck Kleve joined Medalist on February 13th and assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer and Head Recruiter. Chuck’s emphasis is on recruiting experienced loan producers, equity specialists, and investment sales specialists. He is charged with adding to existing offices as well as exploring the opening of new offices. As we do strive to grow, rest assured that retaining the Medalist Capital culture and spirit will always be front and center. Chuck spent 22 years serving our country in the Army and Special Forces. After his service, he worked with Ally Bank, then a small real estate fund, and most recently Wells Fargo. Chuck brings some unique leadership skills and recruiting capabilities while retaining the ability to learn and adapt in areas where he may not be as experienced. Chuck is married to Meredeth, and they have two children Beauregard (15) and Annalina (12).

Bill Mitchell joined Medalist on March 1st at our Atlanta office as a Producer (debt focused). Many of us at Medalist have known Bill for over 20 years; he is a great man and one that fits our culture really well. He spent 20+ years at ICap which subsequently sold to Walker & Dunlop and has been there for 4 ½ years. Bill shares our style and commitment to “old school” mortgage banking, where relationships are true and the client’s interests are given the highest priority. Bill also has proven to be a life company-centric mortgage banker, and he knows many of our correspondent lender already. Bill is married to Nell and they have two children Lucy (10) and Henry (12).

Lastly, Marty Alston joined Medalist on March 13 as a Managing Director (Equity Placement focused). Marty has over 25 years of capital raising experience, with over $39 Bn in capital raises across all major real estate sectors in multiple roles including advisory, private equity, operator, fiduciary, and lending. Prior to joining our team, Marty was Managing Director of Capital Markets for Brennan Investment Group managing debt and equity capital across all sectors of industrial real estate. He has a long history of maintaining relationships and will be a great addition to the Medalist team and culture. Marty is married to Cindy and has three girls - Lindsay, Megan, and Nicole.

"While 2023 is starting as a year of disruption and market turmoil, Medalist is planning for the future; we are growing with an impressive addition of talent and personality. Todd, Chuck, Bill and Marty all give our company more depth, more expertise and critical energy to be successful in whatever environment we face. All of these individuals share our Company’s vision to put our clients and capital providers first and to create win-win situations. This will be a very important year to embrace such an attitude. We look forward to your working with these individuals to find mutual successes!"
