Mr. Williams has more than 30 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry. He began his career with the Cameron Brown Company, which became the First Union Mortgage Corporation, where he worked from 1984 to 1994. In 1994, Mr. Williams formed a new mortgage banking firm, Capital Advisors, where he served as president from 1994 to February 2004. Mr. Williams was one of the co-founders of Medalist Capital, a commercial mortgage banking company with offices located in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina, and Atlanta.

Todd Lankford, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Lankford brings more than 30 years of corporate finance, business development and management experience to Medalist Capital. Prior to joining Medalist in 2015, he was an independent consultant and before that was COO for Pavilion Development Company. Previously, Todd spent more than 20 years in the financial services industry, where he was head of consumer industries for Ernst & Young Corporate Finance LLP, and before that held a number of senior-level management positions at Bank of America and Bank of America Securities, where he started his career. Todd also has a passion for giving back as evidenced by positions as board member and former vice chairman of The First Tee of Charlotte, president of the Tiger Golf Gathering Foundation and member of the executive advisory board of the College of Business at Clemson University. He is a past member of the US Airways Consumer Advisory Board, the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission, the Dowd YMCA, and the Charlotte Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he served as chairman.
Todd was born in Washington, D.C., and earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and a master’s degree from the Wharton School of Finance.
A. Bryan Brooks, Vice President

Mr. Brooks has more than 17 years of experience in the real estate industry. Before joining Medalist Capital, he was an associate in the Real Estate Capital Markets group of Wachovia Securities from 2000 to 2002. Mr. Brooks also worked in the Commercial Real Estate and Commercial Banking groups of First Union National Bank from 1997 to 2000.
Mr. Brooks is currently on the Advisory Board for the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate at UNC Charlotte. He is a former president of the Wofford College National Alumni Association and was a member of the college’s Alumni Executive Council from 2007 thru 2013. Mr. Brooks is a past board member of the Wofford College Terrier Club and serves as an Elder at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. He is a member of the MBA, ICSC and ULI.
Laurie B. Baker, Vice President

Mrs. Baker has more than 30 years of experience in real estate finance in both lending and mortgage banking. Before joining Medalist Capital, she worked with Royal Net Lease from 2004 to 2006 and was with Royal & Sun Alliance from 1996 to 2004. Mrs. Baker also worked in the Income Property Division of Cameron Brown Company, which later became First Union Mortgage Corporation, from 1984 to 1996.
Mrs. Baker enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Eric M. Williams, Vice President

Mr. Williams has more than 15 years of experience in the real estate capital markets industry. Prior to joining Medalist Capital, Mr. Williams served for nine years as the founding principal at The Sage Capital Group, LLC, providing real estate financial advisory services, including debt and equity placement, throughout the Southeast. Mr. Williams also served in a regional capital management role for a Fortune 250 residential builder. Prior to attending business school, Mr. Williams was a practicing attorney for nearly 10 years and served as General Counsel to two middle market service provider companies.
Mr. Williams is a member of the North Carolina Bar, ICSC and ULI. He is a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church and is also active coaching multiple YMCA youth sports. Mr. Williams is married and has three children. His hobbies include sport fishing, reading, and spending time outdoors with his family.
Robert L. Reid III, Assistant Vice President

Robert joined Medalist Capital in the spring of 2015 as an analyst. Before joining Medalist, he worked in Washington, D.C., as a political and communications strategist, advising numerous policymakers, elected officials and political campaigns. Before that, Robert worked in Charlotte as an investment banking analyst for Wells Fargo Securities in the Consumer, Healthcare and Gaming industry group.
Robert is a graduate of the Charlotte Latin School and earned his BA in history with a minor in economics from Wake Forest University.
Thomas M. McHugh, Assistant Vice President
BA, University of South Carolina
Thomas joined Medalist Capital in the summer of 2015 as an analyst. Before that, he worked as an analyst for Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Securities. He spent two years before that as a business development manager for an IT Services firm targeting Fortune 500 financial clients.
He attended the University of South Carolina, earning his BA in finance and management from the Darla Moore School of Business. He is involved in the community and is in charge of organizing the annual Quail Party that benefits local charities in Charlotte.
David W. Yowell, Analyst
BS, Clemson University
David joined Medalist Capital in the summer of 2016 as an analyst. Before that, he was an intern with the firm during the summer of 2015 assisting in the underwriting of transactions, preparing loan packages and performing financial modeling and spreadsheet analysis. Before that, David worked in Atlanta as an intern with UBS Private Wealth Management.
He is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a BS in financial management with an emphasis in real estate and a minor in accounting.
James M. Barnes Jr., Analyst

Jimbo joined Medalist Capital in the summer of 2017 as an analyst. Jimbo has prior experience in the commercial real estate industry, interning with a local commercial lending bank in Raleigh, NC and a global, full-service commercial real estate firm in New York City.
He is an Eagle Scout and played lacrosse at the collegiate level at Furman University. Jimbo later transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he would go on to earn his BSBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
